The People

Pursuit is one of the labels under the New Frontier Wine Company’s innovative portfolio. The New Frontier Wine Company was created by Alejandro Bulgheroni, an Argentinean-Italian vintner, entrepreneur, and humanitarian. He is the president of several companies that own farms, hotels, restaurants, resorts, and wineries all over the world. Mr. Bulgheroni is widely praised for his commitment to environmental and humanitarian causes. He is a visionary that values authenticity.

The winemakers at Pursuit are a regular who’s who of Napa cabernet: Philippe Melka, Maayan Koschitzky, and Matt Sands. This team taps into their deep connections to secure incredible juice from friends and like-minded colleagues and then guides the finished product to ensure that it meets their exacting standards. Philippe Melka’s name is essentially synonymous with Napa cabernet, regularly producing high-scoring wines for other labels that sell for four to five times the price of Pursuit.

The Juice

Given the Napa Valley roots of the winemaking team, Pursuit Cabernet is, and always has been, the hallmark wine of this label. It continually finds itself in the discussion for one of the best overall values in wine today by utilizing some of the best producers in the domestic wine world. Cabernet rules the roost in Napa Valley, and through countless hours of discovery and blending, the team aims to create one of the best cabernets on the market at a reasonable price. It is a quintessential Napa Cab.

The Dirt

The secret here is in the sourcing. The wine is a blend of fruit from multiple famous vineyards throughout Napa Valley including To-Kalon, Dr. Crane, Las Piedras, Georges III, Ritchie, Grieve, Starscape, Charles Heintz, Renwood Estate Ranch, and Lowrey. The winemakers leverage their reputations and professional networks to access the best from these vineyards in the top cabernet producing region in the United States. This strategy delivers superlative juice at a fraction of the price.

The Taste

Lively aromas of black cherries, red currants, wild blackberries, plums, and baking spices bound out of the glass, while gorgeous waves of red & black fruits backed by subtle granite and graphite notes dominate the palate landscape. Marvelous texture and a smooth finish deliver the goods. Pursuit Cabernet delivers supreme quality without the hefty price tag of other Napa offerings.

The Spill

Finding high-quality cabernet from Napa Valley at a reasonable price point is becoming harder and harder to do. We love our cabs, but often hesitate to open a $250 bottle on a Tuesday night (although it has happened more than once.) Malon commented, “The prestige of the vineyards and winemakers makes this an easy sell. But the quality in the bottle really shines through as a top Napa Cab.”
